Quite a few of my lady friends have just turned 30 or are about to turn 30. For you early 20-something women reading this thinking that sounds so far away, I’m not being negative, I’m just being real in telling you that it will be here so much quicker than you think. Eat all the cheese fries NOW.

Women make turning 30 into this awful thing, this milestone against which they measure everything they haven’t accomplished. I was really scared about 30 when I turned 27 because that age, for some reason, was the first time I realized I was closer to 30 than 22, and that scared me a lot. But now that I’m 29 (and lookin’ fine), I’ve had two years to settle into this thing about to happen to me (Monday, May 6, 2013, send gifts), and I’m okay with it. Excited even. Is it because I have to be? Is it because I’m an optimist? Is it because what’s the other choice — have a panic attack and be one of those horrible women who don’t shut up about it? Probs a combo. I’m not Superwoman!

So anyway, this is superficial, but here are some photos of women I genuinely did not know were 30+. This decade doesn’t look that bad.
