A Thank You Letter To Jeffrey Campbell’s ‘Lita’ Shoe

When I saw my first pair of Jeffrey Campbell’s now famous Lita shoe, I was admittedly very o__O about them. I was kinda like “Umm, horse feet?” But you need to know that I work with the women who run MTV Style, and those ladies have some very cool clothes/persuasive qualities.

I kept seeing these shoes on all these homegirls in my office and I was like, “Dammit, I think I love those.” I love the way they alter the body’s silhouette.

When a gal is wearing them, your eyes scan down like, “Regular outfit, regular outfit, regular outfit, BAM! SOLID MASS OF COLOR THAT SHOULD BE STUNTING BUT ACTUALLY LENGTHENS AND SLENDERIZES.” Being Jessica Alba is probably also helpful in this situation.

And these shoes are the gift that keep on giving. Not only do Litas basically go with everything, give you fashion street cred, alienate former classmates at your high school reunion (true story), and do not lie about being LEGITIMATELY comfortable, but they’re are also five inches tall. And I’ve learned, Jeffrey Campbell, that these extra five inches added onto my God-given 62, is my man magnet zone. Turns out 5’7” is my sweet spot when it comes to the opposite sex. (Side note: I can’t attribute all of my new street glances to Litas. I just recently purchased Smashbox’s Fusion Soft Lights blush and wow, never knew how in2 cheekbones dudes are.)

Guys are looking at me totally differently these days. Sure, it could be due to the fact that I am wearing 5” heels, and let’s be honest, they do kind of look like horse shoes, but I think most of the “Hey, baby“‘s are coming from the fact that all the tall men I’ve loved my whole life (6’ or bust!) can finally see me! PUH-raise.

Thank you, Jeffrey Campbell. Yes, by wearing your shoe to make me taller and, in turn, more attractive to tall men who I am unreasonably attracted to, I am perpetuating the dangerous and damaging emphasis placed on the female appearance in modern America, but IDGAF. I love these shoes, and I love tall dudes. You have opened up a new world for me.
